Brandon Poe is part of one of the most well-known families in West Virgina…America’s last “Outlaw” Family, The Whites.  A documentary in 2009 by Julien Nitzberg followed their lives, titled “The Wild and Wonderful Whites of West Virginia”.  It was a massive hit.

Brandon Poe appeared in the documentary from jail.  In 2005 he was hanging out at his cousins house Derek "Derkie" Castle White's.  The phone rang and it was his uncle, Billy Hastings.  Hastings and Poe fought over the phone, and Hastings made the mistake of saying some nasty things about Brandon's father, who had just died days prior.  After the phone call, Brandon got up and abruptly left.  He went to his uncles house and shot him right in the face.  The shot didn't kill Hastings.  He then went on a complete spree.  He robbed 2 people at gunpoint, stole cars, set a car on fire, and finally find himself in a standoff with the police, shooting at them at least 6 times.  Once he was apprehended, 17-year-old Brandon Poe was sentenced to 50 years in prison.  His uncle Billy Hastings forgave him and found his sentence to be harsh.

This art was done on regular computer paper.  It’s haunting and shows the demonic faces of prisoners in their cells.
