Twin brothers Ronald “Ronnie Kray (October 24, 1933-March 17, 1995) and Reginald “Reggie” Kray (October 24, 1933-October 1, 2000) were English gangsters in the East End of London. Both brothers were professional boxers who were also involved in armed robberies, protection rackets, assaults, arson, and murder. It is said that both had homosexual tendencies.
After their Boxing careers ended, they were nightclub owners. Strangely, they were not only criminals but celebrities in their own way. They were seen as prosperous and charming, being a big part of the “Swinging London” scene. They were seen with lords, MPs, socialites, and folks involved in show business including Frank Sinatra.
“They were the best years of our lives. They called them the swinging sixties. The Beatles and the Rolling Stones were rulers of pop music, Carnaby Street ruled the fashion world... and me and my brother ruled London. We were fucking untouchable…”
– Ronnie Kray
