The West Memphis Three case is perhaps one of the most well-known and talked about cases, due to the publicity it garnished through the multiple HBO Documentaries. And let's not forget the some of the celebrities (Johnny Depp, The Dixie Chicks, Eddie Vedder, Marilyn Manson, Metallica, Lord Of The Rings director Peter Jackson) that were sure the three teenagers were innocent of the brutal Satanic slayings of the three young boys Steve Edward Branch, Christopher Mark Byers, and James Michael Moore.
After spending 18 years in prison, Jessie Loyd Misskelley, Damien Wayne Echols, and Jason Charles Baldwin were released on the Alford Plea. The Alford Plea allowed them to assert their innocence while acknowledging that prosecutors have enough evidence to convict them.
Jessie Misskelley Jr. (born July 10, 1975) was arrested in connection to the murders of May 5, 1993. After a reported 12 hours of interrogation by police, Misskelley, who has an IQ of 72, confessed to the murders, and implicated Baldwin and Echols. However, the confession was at odds with facts known by police, such as the time of the murders.
This book is an absolute CLASSIC. “1984” by George Orwell. It was owned by Damien Echols while in prison. He has written his name in it once (in the front when you open it). This copy is pretty badly beat up, the back cover is missing but it’s an extremely cool piece to own considering the title. The book was obtained directly from a man who purchased a storage locker that had been abandoned by the wife of Echols, Lorri Davis. It was in the news, see the article below:
